Oceonagraphy Labs by Easy Peasy



  1. Day 14 Sink or Float:   (Materials: aluminum foil, pennies or a bunch of the same small coins)
  2. Day 23  Mapping the Ocean Floor You have two days to complete this lab 
  3. Day 28  Salty Water lab 
  4. Day 30 Ocean Characteristics ( online lab )
  5. Day 34 Dissolved Oxygen ( virtual lab on dissolved oxygen.)
  6. Day 37 Salinity Experiment Lab (Materials needed: ruler, salt, one small potato) 
  7. Day 38  pH experiment. You will create an experiment and write up a short lab.
  8. Day 48 Ocean Currents and Temperature Lab (Materials needed:  ice, blue food coloring–doesn’t have to be blue, hot water, clear glass cup, bowl, a large clear straw) .Reminder: guide to writing a lab report.

  10. Day 85 Wetlands Lab
  11. Day 109   Elodea Lab (Materials: only if you can get it, if not, you can do it virtually: Sprig of Elodea, Water w /Baking Soda, clear glass, Timer or Watch, 60 watt light)
  12. Day 111 Elodea is known as waterweed. Complete this waterweed virtual lab.
  13. Day 121  Fiddler Crab Population Estimation Lab (Materials: ruler, index card — you can print a ruler from online if needed and use a regular piece of paper instead of an index card)
  14. Day 141 F ish lab
***Go to Easy Peasy Oceonagraphy and start on day 70 for our second semester with marine biology! Perform the different labs that go with the different days specified here. Keep a record of lab work on a notebook. This is very important for highschool credit.
