Interactive Affordable College Education that leads to Affordable College credit

There are so many great opportunities in this great United States of America and one that I love when it comes to education is affordable education. The resource that I am about to share is a wonderful effort to try to help students reach their goals of higher education without incurring humongous amounts of debt. College debt is not worth it! Avoid it like you avoid the flu specially when there are other ways to educate yourself and still attain same results towards higher education.  Study.com is there to help you! Watch how it works here!

  • College Courses

Do be careful since this curriculum may not be Christian based. Still these are great resources for those pursuing college and wanting to get it done at lower prices.

Another place that I came acquainted with is Coursera. It seems very interested and found out many universities participate providing courses here. I even found courses in Spanish. I am very interested in robotics and computer programming so I will be checking that one out.

Free Highschool Curiculum

Check out free great online resources in this wonderful free curriculum for highschool: highschool online .
My child loves this website and does all daily lessons. I like having a physical portfolio for the school year of what my student does online. I just have her do some of the math problems that she does online on a notebook. The other subjects have projects I am collecting as well. All writing is done in a notebook.  I also have encouraged her to keep a journal of everything she does in homeschool. My child loves the interactive math, science, and history provided in this curriculum. She is an artist and  seems to thrive with this curriculum. What I love is that she is reading the Bible everyday following the daily lessons. The homeschool mom that put this curriculum together is a Christian and I applaud what she did on her website.

Let's Talk about Place Value

One, ten, hundred
Graphics found at Abc Teach and Mathatube.com

Plug in numbers inside a chart like the one below. I placed these numbers so  my third grader could understand for his level: 2,351, 24, 560, and 1,000. A first grader can plug a number with one digit (like  number 4) or plug a number with 2 digits (like number 24). A second grader can plug three digit numbers.
Great graphic from Mathatube.com and edited in my paint program so my third grader could learn place value.

Here is the number 1,247 represented with blocks and with the place value format:

Here is something fun my daughter worked while learning about large numbers. Its a pyramid of large numbers. The right side has the correct representation of the numbers. The left side is just a reflection.
